Paul McCartney’s 5 Greatest Albums Outside of the Beatles

Okay we all love the Beatles and I think that it is very hard to deny that McCartney as a whole has probably the single greatest collection of songs under his belt than any other musician in history. Almost every album he has done since the demise of the greatest band in history has had something very special to offer. Iconic songs that we either love and can name within a couple of notes or songs that we are at least very fond of. However, despite all of this greatness, I believe there are five albums in particular that stand out about the rest that hold a level of greatness from beginning to finish and here there are in the order that I feel they should be in.

5) Venus and Mars

Despite this album only having one major top forty single, ‘Listen to What the Man Said,’ this album was full of wonderful little gems. It had some very cool rockers like ‘Rock Show’ and some other songs not to be taken too seriously like ‘Magneto & Titanium Man.’ One of my personal favorites was a song that was two songs in one (which was something that Paul used to do often) called ‘Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People. Another cool song was ‘Medicine Jar.’ However, this was a song not sang by Paul. Instead, his guitarist (the late) Jimmy McCulloch helmed the vocal duties and was only one of two songs he sang in his tenure with the band. This album as a whole doesn’t have a bad song on it and it captured McCartney’s classic 70s sound that would never be duplicated past that album.
